Perplexity Comet
Category: Consumer Browser / AI Browser Agent
Perplexity Comet is an AI-native web browser built on Chromium. It ships a built-in browser agent called Comet Assistant that goes beyond search: it can autonomously navigate websites, manage email and calendar, fill forms, compare prices, book reservations, and execute multi-step workflows on your behalf.
The browser was launched July 9, 2025. Access is via the download page at comet.perplexity.ai.
Core capabilities
- Agentic browsing -- give a high-level instruction ("book a dinner reservation," "summarize my inbox," "plan a trip to Lisbon") and Comet executes the steps across multiple tabs and sites.
- On-page AI -- a persistent side panel lets you chat with any open page, PDF, or video in context.
- Email and calendar integration -- opt-in read/write access to Gmail and Google Calendar; Comet can draft emails, summarize threads, and answer scheduling questions.
- Tab and project memory -- organizes browsing into persistent projects and remembers context across sessions.
- Voice interface -- speak prompts to search, summarize, and trigger workflows.
- Import from other browsers -- bookmarks, passwords, history, extensions, and settings from Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Firefox.

Safety and ToS notes
- Agentic features (email/calendar read-write, form submission, automated purchases) require explicit opt-in. Review which permissions you grant before enabling them.
- The
comet-agentbrowser extension executes RPC-style commands from Perplexity's backend against live pages. Security researchers have analyzed this layer; understand the trust model before granting access to sensitive accounts. - Perplexity's privacy policy covers data processed during agentic sessions. Activity data is used to support ongoing tasks and improve the model.
- Automated form-filling and booking workflows interact with third-party sites on your behalf; those sites' terms still apply.
